David Rodriguez Ph.D., CFP ®

David Rodriguez is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Associate Professor of Finance. Dave and his wife are parents to five kids, but with their active involvement in the foster care community, it is common to have more than just five kids living with them. He is an active participant in his church and, with his wife, serves as the Foster Care Ministry Leaders.

Dave has spent his academic and professional life studying and practicing in real estate and finance. Dave started a real estate company in 2003, based out of Illinois, and since then has expanded into Indiana. While he still holds his managing licenses in both states he has since earned his CFP and is currently the CFP Program Director at Henderson State University, where he teaches courses in the financial planning program. After years of guiding young advisors to a planning career, he chose to actively engage in planning and began to volunteer his time to plan for those that could not afford an advisor. While still volunteering, he has decided to expand this passion project into a formal advising service, Minas Financial Planning.

As a professor, his philosophy is different than many traditional advisors.  Dave is most interested in teaching and leading clients to a place where they are confident in their financial picture and will ultimately be able to pass on knowledge and leave a legacy. Put simply, Dave can certainly walk with you through it all or simply guide you as needed, essentially teaching a client to “fish”.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and CFP® in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
